Honest answer: we use Google's geodesic area math (spherical.computeArea, based on WGS84). The math is accurate to well under 1%. Real-world accuracy depends on the surface:
For jobs over $1,000 we recommend a site visit to verify. Satellite imagery is refreshed on a 12–24 month cycle, so brand-new construction may not show. Our built-in calibration tool lets you trace a known object (like the homeowner's car or garage door) on the property — that typically gets you to within ±2%.
Anyone claiming 100% accuracy from satellite imagery is lying. Physics — imagery age, parallax, pixel resolution — puts a hard floor on what's possible.
